Real benefits from just 45 mins exercise a week Working it out Its well known that regular exercise can help prevent illness current guidelines recommend 150 minutes per week but a new study, published in Arthritis Care & Research, has found that undertaking just 45 minutes of exercise is still beneficial in older adults. With just one in 10 older adults with knee arthritis meeting the recommended guidelines for exercise and activity, researchers at Northwestern University, Illinois, US, embarked on a study to determine a less overwhelming goal. Scientists measured the physical activity of 1,600 adults with osteoarthritis in their hips, knees or feet. Good luck! researchers from the university of warwicks medical school are leading a study to explore ways of helping people with chronic pain back to work. working with employers, they will design a package of care and support for people who are out of work because of chronic pain, and aim to overcome the obstacles people face in getting back to work. many of the people in the study will have arthritis or arthritis-related conditions. study participants will be assessed, and interventional support will be provided not only to the person in pain, but also to their manager. it is anticipated that work placements will increase participants confidence in both their ability to work and returning to work.
