Editorial A green viewpoint Our green edition is introduced by UK Regional Director Michael Grace, whose team is profiled on page 10 I am pleased to introduce the third issue of Viewpoint, the global magazine delivering news and views from the world of Rail & Transit at SNCLavalin. Rail is widely recognised as an environmentally friendly mode of transport, so its fitting that the issue has a green focus. In our cover story, we explore how the latest rolling-stock developments are further improving these credentials. As the UK Director for Rail & Transit, Im proud to say that my region is at the forefront of these developments and others; discover more here. In particular, the UK Digital Services team has been collaborating with colleagues in Sweden to drive green innovations and improve clients operations. As a global business, our employees often get the chance to work abroad. In this issue, we introduce two individuals whomoved to another country permanently in The view from here. Taking a different slant on our green theme, we hop over to Canada, to discuss the Evergreen Line extension. This is the latest addition to Vancouvers SkyTrain passenger system. We also explore two Purple Line projects in this colourful issue. Although they share the same name, these lines are in very different parts of the world one is in the USA, the other in Thailand. Last, but not least, you can meet Amy Lezala from our Australian team. At the age of 29, she became the youngest international Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. We hope you like our new issue and, if you have any queries, suggestions or comments, please email the editorial team at viewpoint@snclavalin.com Michael Grace Regional Director, Rail & Transit UK Infrastructure SNC-Lavalin viewpoint@snclavalin.com Building what matters snclavalin.com
