To mark its moment in history, CTSI staged a celebration on 30 April in London at the Skyloft, where vice-presidents of the institute, peers and serving trading standards ofcers toasted the occasion. CTSIs new logo, which reects this change in status, was also unveiled. Speaking of its achievement, CTSIs chief executive Leon Livermore says: I am proud to be at the helm of this organisation at this positive time of change. Being granted the prestigious Royal Charter is a testament to our achievements and value as a professional body, and I would like to say thank you to everyone who has been part of the long process that has brought us here today. The award of chartered status has occurred in conjunction with CTSIs new vision for the structure of trading standards a blueprint that the institute will be presenting to the new government and consumer minister as soon as practicable following the General Election on 7 May. Livermore enthuses: We start this new era with a strong new vision for the delivery of trading standards, to ensure a resilient and sustainable service that can continue to ght the corner of consumers and honest businesses despite continuing budget cuts in local authorities. He adds: Im also delighted to reveal our new logo, which is a fantastic visual marker for our continuing work as the leading light for the trading standards profession. The thinking behind the new logo was to reect CTSI as a beacon for the trading standards profession, and to give a nod to its history in weights and measures with the cube balancing on one of its corners. As part of this rebranding, CTSIs website is also changing. From 1 August, the domain name will become www.tradingstandards.uk and a new website will follow soon after.
