Health Too hot for comfort? While, for most people, warmer weather brings some respite from arthritis pain and stiffness, the heat especially if it gets really hot can make symptoms worse. Remember to stay hydrated, as dehydration worsens arthritis symptoms, and do the usual things to keep cool, such as wearing light, natural fabrics and staying in the shade during the hottest part of the day. Its still important to remain active, so try some gentle exercises earlier in the morning or in the evening. If your joints start to swell, Dr Lee advises adhering to the RICE principles of rest, ice, compress and elevate. 10 versusarthritis.org PP8-11_Inspire_Summer 2023_6 Reasons to love summer.indd 10 17/05/2023 12:05
