We are here to help you manage your arthritis better, and stay active, independent and connected Make a change Would you like to make a difference to the lives of people with arthritis in Wales? Arthritis Cares Change Maker Volunteers do just this and we need people like you to help us. Volunteers raise awareness and understanding of arthritis in communities, and improve rights and services for all those with the condition by influencing decision-makers and service providers. We have three Change Maker Volunteers in Wales, but were looking for more. Whats more, you can raise money for charity by taking party in a sponsored walk. arthritis Research UK has done some of the legwork already by working out various routes across England, including the Isle of Wight (5-6 May) and the Jurassic Coast (21-22 July). You can walk, jog, or even run and raise money for your favourite cause. Its a great chance to meet new people and experience some amazing countryside. For further details on any of the walks, call 0300 790 0402, email events@ arthritisresearchuk.org or visit arthritisresearchuk.org/events/sports/ get the app arthritis Care in northern ireland is developing an app for young people with arthritis. the technology is designed to help those with the condition monitor how it is affecting them, and offer lifestyle tips. it also connects young people to arthritis Cares online Community, and to events such as workshops run by the organisation. the app is currently being tested by young people in northern ireland and funded by the Big lottery Fund through the Building Change trust. Watch this space for updates. sOrtiNg tHe system Responsibility for disability benefits in Scotland is being devolved to the Scottish Government and, as part of its preparation, Social Security Experience Panels have been established to work with people who have recent experience of the benefits system. Arthritis Care Scotlands Jay OReilly is taking part in the panels looking at Personal Independence Payments. Research has shown that 60 per cent of people rate their experience of the current system as poor or very poor. As a person living with arthritis, Jays contribution will hopefully make that ambition a reality.
