It had never occurred to me that my daughter could have arthritis M y daughter Molly is like any other 14- year-old. Shes already independent and is permanently attached to her phone. But in one way, Molly is different from other teenagers because when she was just eight, she was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. I first noticed something wasnt right when one of her fingers became swollen and shed complain of achy wrists. Only a month later, I was watching her struggle to hold her knife and fork properly. It was heartbreaking. You spend those first few years celebrating every milestone your child reaches, and then suddenly, it feels like theyve hit a brick wall. Thankfully, shortly after her diagnosis, we came across arthritis Care, which has been a lifeline ever since. Through arthritis Care, she can meet other young people dealing with the same thing, and help make sure that teenagers like her fulfil their potential. Instead of saying: You shouldnt do this or You cant do that, they say: Show us what you can do. I know there will be challenges in the years ahead, but knowing that arthritis Care will be there every step of the way is really comforting.
