Why should I have a Will? Having an up to date Will is hugely important because it is the only way to guarantee your wishes are carried out after you die. your Will can ensure that family and friends are provided for in the way that you want them to be, rather than the state directing who inherits. Without a Will, there is no guarantee your wishes will be carried out. What happens if I dont have a Will? if you dont have a Will, the state says who inherits your estate this means your family, friends and any charities may not benefit. it can also be problematic for your friends and family, as it may be more complex and time-consuming to administer your estate. When should I update myWill? it is important to update your Will from time to time, especially when there are any alterations in your circumstances for example, a marriage or divorce, the birth of children or grandchildren, or if your financial circumstances change. it is also important to check if your estate is affected by changes in inheritance tax legislation over the years. Is it difficult to make aWill? No. it is important for everyone to have an up-to-date Will. This will make sure your wishes are followed, give you peace of mind, and reduce the burden on family and friends after your death. do I need to use asolicitor? We would always recommend using a solicitor. although home-made Wills are available, a solicitor will make sure there are no errors or omissions that could cause problems further down the line.
