Vancouver symposium SNC-Lavalin supporting Digital Railway programme SNC-Lavalins Rail & Transit team has been supporting Arcadis as Delivery Partner (Systems) for the Digital Railway programme. The UK scheme will use thelatest traffic management and signalling systems to deliver a smarter railway, on which capacity will be improved through the better use and management of data. The project team has been helping to shape the Digital Railway programme, ready for implementation. Members of the team have been delivering a range of services, including: technical leadership; engineering solutions; project and risk management; stakeholder engagement; and business change. This digitalisation of theUK network will involve removing fixed lineside signals andreplacingthem with incabsignalling. Byusing the European TrainControl System (ETCS), Traffic Management Systems and Automatic Train Operation (ATO) which optimise the speed and movements of trains on the network trains will be able to be run closer together. Working with Arcadis and Ramboll and closely with the supply chain the SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit team has been undertaking work on a national strategy for the rollout of Traffic Management Systems and the Open Systems Architecture.
