N E WS BALPA WILL TAKE AGENDA TO EMPLOYERS BALPA is committed to delivering a more campaign-driven, proactive and organising industrial department, according to BALPA Head of Industrial Relations, Terry Brandon. Speaking at the Annual Delegates Conference, he said: Our Company Councils are the lifeblood of our union. They are not just advocates, they are not just there as an insurance policy for members, they are also working with BALPA staff to become organisers in their airline, ensuring BALPA grows in numbers and strength. We will take our agenda to the employer and not simply respond to what the airline says or does. Those employers who fail to engage meaningfully will feel the effect of this unity and strength. Green shoots for aviation recruitment We all know that, in recent years, the aviation industry has been battered by Covid. Now the industry is recovering, and we are seeing increasing positivity when it comes to recruitment. Thats why we were able to attend the Flight Crew Futures (FCF) event to share the message with pilots that the future is looking increasingly bright. Its early days, but there are certainly green shoots appearing when it comes to recruitment. Our message at this event was that there is movement in the market and we are seeing recruitment taking place particularly for experienced pilots.
