TECH LOG Log notices The latest information and safety notices SN-2024/003 Approvals for Flights to Exceed 250 KIAS Below 10,000ft AMSL This Safety Notice applies to all aircraft where the UK CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) has issued an approval under Assimilated Regulation (EU) No 923/2012 the (UK) Standardised European Rules of the Air (SERA) SERA.600, which imposes a speed limitation of 250 knots indicated airspeed (KIAS) on VFR flights in class C airspace and all flights in classes D, E, F and G airspace when flying under 10,000 feet (ft) above mean sea level (AMSL). For more see: bit.ly/3Us48uX SN-2024/005 A320 Family Aircraft Third Occupant Seat Harness Correct Routing The purpose of this Safety Notice is to alert owners and operators of affected aircraft types, (Airbus A318, A319, A320 and A321 aircraft), to highlight the correct routing of the third occupant seat harness through the slots in the headrest assembly. For more see: bit.ly/3Y4ygNR SW2024/262 CAP 493 SI: Clarification of reduced separation The purpose of this Supplementary Instruction (SI) to the Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS) Part 1 (CAP 493) is to clarify provisions concerning the application of reduced separation in the vicinity of an aerodrome, and to clarify the requirement concerning the provision of recommended wake turbulence separation minima. This highlights the key trends across the sector and the expectations for AI in aerospace. To support this, we have also published our first horizon-scanning report for AI (For more see: bit.ly/3No6Xcp). This paper explores the trends relating to artificial intelligence to provide insights that feed into the CAAs development of our first Strategy for AI. For more see: bit.ly/4h2NsDG SW2024/235 Guidance published on mountain flying We have launched our new Mountain Flying webpage (bit.ly/4fhvgor), designed to support light-aircraft pilots in navigating the unique challenges of flying in mountainous areas. This webpage provides guidance on topics such as terrain clearance, weather considerations, flying abroad, navigation, aircraft performance and human factors. For more see: bit.ly/3No6h6R SW2024/220 Military Aircrew Accreditation Scheme (MAAS) This document sets out the credits for UK Part-FCL licences available to UK military aircrew. These are established in a Credit Report prepared by No. 22 Group, RAF, in consultation with the CAA, in accordance with the Article 10 of UK Reg (EU) No. 1178/2011.
