The Property Ombudsman (TPO) scheme has launched a new national campaign with CTSI to tackle lettings agents who are breaking the law by not displaying their fees. The joint campaign will initially target agents operating in Swansea and Dorset; they will be required to provide TPO with photographic evidence to demonstrate they are complying with the law by displaying their fees in both the branch and on their company website. Any agent who fails to submit evidence will be referred to trading standards for further investigation. The campaign was originally announced at the TPOs Conference in October, where Katrine Sporle, Property Ombudsman, revealed the scheme would be working closely with trading standards ofcers, who have the powers to impose nes of up to 5,000 on any letting agent who fails to display its fees. More than 85 per cent of all UK letting agents are signed up with TPO, and are following the industrys only CTSI-approved Lettings Code of Practice, which clearly states that agents must display their fees in accordance with the 2015 Consumer Rights Act. CTSI launches new website CTSI has launched its new website. The address is still the same but it has endeavoured to refresh the content, style and functionality to make it easier for visitors coming to the site to understand what the institute does. Many of the changes are in the back office, after the institute replaced its outdated content management system. The changes have been made both to improve administration, and so it can offer more online services in the future. The site is now less consumer focused, which reflects the changing role of the profession itself in recent years. Feedback is welcomed via email at pressoffice@tsi.org.uk
