From the editor-in-chief In or out, Consumer Day gets my vote Chris Fay Editor-in-chief chrisf@tsi.org.uk Tensions are running high as people across the UK gear up to make one of the most important decisions they are likely to face in a generation Should I attend Consumer Day at this years CTSI conference? Personally I think its a no brainer, but for those of you who are travelling some distance I hope you remembered to register for your postal vote in the EU referendum, which takes place on June 23. Consumer Day marks the end of this years annual conference at Telford International Centre, West Midlands, and if you thought the referendum drama was tense you should try talking to our events team, who have once again pulled out all the stops to bring you a packed schedule. Speakers include: Alasdair MacFarlane, Royal Bank of Scotlands head of customer security; former stockbroker and outspoken creator of PomeGreat, Adam Pritchard; and Vicky Pryce, chief economic adviser at the Centre for Economics and Business Research. During the conference we will also reveal some of the key findings of the latest workforce survey, and will launch the latest phase of our research project in partnership with Bournemouth University. The initiative encourages all agencies but especially financial institutions to take greater responsibility for vulnerable potential victims of scams, and calls on banks, in particular, to put a number of specific measures in place. Meanwhile we will be welcoming the first elected officials and community leaders who have each signed up to become a #scambassador as part of the Stand Against Scams campaign. The campaign is aimed at inspiring key figures in local communities to pledge their support, encouraging people both to report scams and help to support the victims. It follows figures suggesting 95 per cent of such crimes go unreported. If you know anyone who would make a worthy #scambassador, please encourage them to join the campaign and, hopefully, even to join us at this years annual conference. Thanks for reading.
