From the CEO – The keys to success

From the CEO The keys to success In the wake of the IAMs successful global conference, CEO Ursula Bryan is inspired by the stories shes heard A There are so many different ways organisations unlock value for themselves or their clients, and it is often a combination of approaches that deliver the desired result I am always keen to hear from members and our wider asset management community, so please email me if you would like to discuss this article or if there is anything else you would like to talk about. s I speak to and hear from our wider asset management community, it is great to listen to people sharing the work they are involved with to support delivering better outcomes for stakeholders. I had the great privilege to hear from and interact with our members from across the world during the IAM global virtual conference focusing on why outcomes matter. I want to thank our speakers and all who participated in making it such a successful event. Please remember that as a member, you can re-watch or catch up on any sessions using your conference link. I found the event massively inspiring around what our community is doing to focus on outcomes and realise value. Realising value is at the heart of what asset management is all about, and through our partnership with ITN, we have been exploring themes to help individuals and organisations do this. Our first series, planning for the long term focused on the importance of not just short-term but also long-term value. In our second series, why outcomes matter, we concentrated on why being able to maximise the value delivered for stakeholders is essential. Organisations across the globe strive to unlock value, so in May, we announced we would again be partnering with ITN on our third season to bring to life the approaches and solutions organisations are employing to unlock value. As we embrace this topic of unlocking value, I look forward to exploring with our wider asset management community the breadth of approaches organisations employ. There are so many different ways organisations unlock value for themselves or their clients, and it is often a combination of approaches that deliver the desired result for stakeholders. Examples of some of these approaches I have regularly discussed with individuals and organisations are: how digital innovation, such as the use of building information modelling, digital twins, and artificial intelligence, is transforming how value is realised where decision support capability such as investment prioritisation is enabling a balanced range of outcomes the power of organisational transformation including strategy, leadership, culture, performance improvement, and people capability in unlocking value how innovations focusing on outcomes are reimagining the way the value is realised, such as the circular economy and servitisation how engaging with the right partners to build close, trusting, and long-term partnerships is key to maximising value. I have posted a new topic on the IAM Discussion Forum asking our wider asset management community, what are your experiences of unlocking value?; I am excited to see what responses we get on this topic. Please do take part in the discussion and check out and contribute to the other topics on the Forum. The topics and responses provide a great insight into current questions and focus areas in which our asset management community is engaged. Finally, I wanted to say a massive thank you to all our volunteers, speakers, and all those who took part in recent chapter national events, including the IAM Germany work meeting, the IAM Netherlands conference and awards, the IAM Canada inclusive infrastructure session, and the IAM USA national branch meeting. I really appreciate all your contributions, and I am excited to see how these continue to grow.
