Email josh.ellicock@theIAM.org elcome to our latest issue of Assets, which has a focus on supply chain and working collaboratively to ensure successful outcomes. Outcomes and why they matter is the theme for this years IAMs Global Conference. It is shaping up to be a great event and we hope as many of you as possible can take part. This issue, we first head to Ontario to step on board the Polar Bear Express train, which provides the only all-season land link to the town of Moosonee. Because of the critical nature and vast geography of the rail infrastructure in Ontario, the agency responsible for its operation has recently put significant efforts into standardising processes and procedures to ensure the effectiveness of its asset management activities. We hear from Khalid Al Ammar, Chair of the new IAM KSA Chapter and Assistant Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia about his asset management journey. This involves a great piece of work developing a National Manual for Assets and Facilities Management. Look out for what this has in common with horticulture too! Developing the green theme, Firuzan Speroni from KPMG explains the benefits of green procurement. This is about shifting the emphasis away from operational carbon emissions towards embodied carbon encompassing the installation/construction activities of assets. Justin Waples of Central San then explores the need to adapt our ways of working to meet climate change and resource scarcity challenges. A step change in asset management is needed to meet the evolving needs of customers, regulators and environmental challenges, according to Carol Cairns. She explains the study that has been undertaken into how the water industry can create better value through asset management decision making. Speaking of change, the IAMs Ursula Bryan and Jodie Williamson update us on the progress of the IAM Competences Framework review and welcome your feedback. Our at the back section has had a change of focus. Still about the people in our sector, its now called My working week. This issue, we get to know Anna Haddick, learning about her role at meliorate as well as her experience of taking the German IAM Certificate and her role as NxtGen Lead for IAM Germany.
