
O B I T UA RI E S The Dutch moving and relocation industry has lost two well-loved personalities, Edwin van de Vliet and Marcel Boer EDWIN VAN DE VLIET V oerman Group announced the death of its globally respected Group Chief Operating Officer, Edwin van de Vliet, following a heart attack at the age of 50. A company statement said: It is with great sadness and disbelief that we must inform you of our dear colleague and COO/Shareholder Edwin van de Vliet, who suddenly passed away. Edwin just recently turned 50 years old. Thinking back with fond memories of Edwin, we will remember how committed he was, his sense of humour, his warm personality and overall being a family man. His loss leaves a tremendous void. Tributes and condolences continued to grow on social media and directly to the Voerman Group, recognising the warmth and professionalism of Edwin, who joined Voerman in 1996 and was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in 2005. In the role, he made a major contribution to the company, becoming an industry leader in Europe and around the world. Edwin leaves a widow, Manon, and two sons, Bobby and Jesse. MARCEL BOER G osselin has announced the sudden death of Marcel Boer at the age of 47, a few days after he was diagnosed with cancer. The company said in a statement: Marcel leaves behind his wife and two children as well as many friends and colleagues around the world. He will be remembered as a loyal professional and a true mover who excelled in selling moves to corporations and private customers. Marcel is recognised by colleagues and customers as a very trustworthy, knowledgeable and entertaining professional. Marcel joined Gosselin in December 2019 as Sales Manager for the Benelux region. We got to know him as a very positive colleague who was always full of energy. Needless to say, we at Gosselin, along with the entire Dutch moving industry, are all devastated by this sad news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Boer family during these incredibly difficult times.
