L I G H T E R S I DE Helsinkis new childrens hospital opened in September 2018 The hospital interior feaures original graphic art NIEMIS KEY ROLE AT NEW CHILDRENS HOSPITAL A Finnish Affiliate has played a major role in a cutting-edge new childrens hospital in Finland. Niemi Services Ltd has been a logistics partner with the new hospital in Helsinki since the construction phase and even donated 100,000 to help cover costs. It is now an honorary donor. The hospital, which treats patients from all parts of the country and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, opened its doors in September 2018. The hospital interior features original graphic art from Tove Janssons Moomin stories, as well as paintings and textiles. Parents are able to be with their children in all areas and during all phases of treatment around the clock. There are toys and games for children in the wards and other areas. The hospitals digital solutions improve the flow of information and ensure smoother services. During registration, for example, patients choose an avatar that will lead them to where they need to be in the hospital. The avatars are used to call patients to an appointment, and to inform parents how their childs operation is progressing and when they are being moved into the recovery room. In the inpatient wards, there is a tablet computer by each bed, so patients and their parents can access information about the hospital, play games, watch TV and stay in touch with friends and family.
