Marie-Pascale Frix, FIDI Business Intelligence Manager, explains how you can make a difference within the removals sector by joining the FIDI DRS Mediation Panel MARIE-PASCALE FRIX, FIDI BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE MANAGER T he newly approved FIDI Dispute Resolution Scheme (FIDI DRS) came into effect on 1 January 2019, offering a fair and impartial dispute resolution service to all FIDI Affiliates. As announced in the last edition of FIDI Focus (288, pages 29-30), the DRS Mediation Panel will consist of a team of industry experts who will assist FIDI in resolving disputes between Affiliates during the mediation or appeal phases of the scheme. Volunteer experts are now actively being sought to join the panel, with a vote taking place during the next Delegates Meeting on 31 March 2019 in Amsterdam. WHY JOIN THE DRS MEDIATION PANEL? If successfully elected as a DRS Mediation Panel member, you will belong to an 18-strong team of managers representing different regions and companies, who will: Offer insight on mediation cases through knowledge of the industry, the FAIM Standard and the FIDI FIND THE SUPPORT YOU NEED Gordon Bell, Asian Tigers Mobility Singapore, speaks from experience Having a battle with one of your fellow FIDI agents over an invoice? FIDI can help you find a resolution. FIDI has rules in place and procedures to follow when handling shipments between FIDI agents. By taking your problem to FIDI, you have access to an expert team of individuals from affiliated companies looking at both sides of the dispute and giving their professional opinions. A team leader will then spell out a resolution agreeable by all parties in the dispute team and deliver it back to FIDI. How much fairer can that be? HOW TO APPLY There are four steps to applying for a position on the panel: 1. Find out if youre eligible by asking yourself six quick questions (see panel, Ask yourself...). 2. If you answer yes to all questions, send an email to fidi@fidi.org informing us of your wish to be part of the DRS panel. 3. Once your application has been received, FIDI will investigate each candidate and present the eligible slate to the Delegates Meeting for a vote. 4. The main requirements to be part of the DRS Mediation Panel are the following: 1. You are an international moving industry manager with at least five years experience, currently working for a FIDI affiliated company 2. You have a comprehensive understanding of the FAIM Standard and the FIDI PCGs 3. You are willing to dedicate some time during your tenure to potential DRS assignments 4.
