This code is set up to uphold the dignityand reputation of the profession, andto safeguard the public interest in matters relevant to the art, science and practice of building services engineering. Members reaffirm their commitment to thecode each year, through renewal of theirmembership. In 2019, CIBSEs Professional Conduct Committee undertook a review of the code to ensure it remains relevant. The updated version includes additional guidance based on the Engineering Councils statement on security. This sets out six key principles to guide engineers and technicians in identifying, assessing, managing and communicating issues about security. The code is supported by the best practice outlined in the guidance and principles provided by the Royal Academy of Engineering, Engineering Council and Construction Industry Council. These principles outline the types of behaviour that will assist adherence to the CIBSE code of conduct. Royal Academy of Engineering Statement of Ethical Principles This statement was produced through discussions with engineers from a number of engineering institutions and with philosophers specialising in applied ethics. It is intended to be a statement of the values and principles that guide engineering practice and the codes of practice published by the participating engineering institutions.
