This has been highlighted as a contributing factor to a number of airspace infringements. The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has become aware, through the Mandatory Occurrence Report system, of discrepancies between the accurate airspace restrictions published via the Aeronautical Information Publications and how manufacturers display airspace information in their systems. This has contributed to incidents where remote pilots have been unaware that they were flying within restricted airspace. SW 2023/317 Publication of revised CAP1616 airspace change process The UK CAA has published its revised CAP1616 airspace change process. The package of improvements makes the airspace change process easier to understand and clarifies the requirements needed to progress an airspace change proposal. The revised process takes into consideration feedback and insights from stakeholders affected by airspace change. SW2023/314 Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS) Part 1: Edition 11 The Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS) Part 1 (CAP493) edition 11 is now published. The effective date is 28th December 2023. SW2023/291 Reminder: Less than six months until EC Rebate Scheme closes The Department for Transport-funded EC Rebate Scheme is nearing its end, with the application window closing on 31st March 2024. The scheme aims to improve airspace safety by encouraging the adoption of EC devices that enhance situational awareness for pilots. Eligible applicants still have an opportunity to claim a 50% rebate on the purchase cost of an EC device, up to a maximum of 250. SW2023/290 Pavement bearing strength. Aircraft Classification Rating (ACR) / Pavement Classification Rating (PCR). Guidance for the Aircraft Classification Rating and Pavement Classification Rating (ACR/PCR), which replaces the Aircraft Classification Number and the Pavement Classification Number (ACN/PCN) as of 28th November 2024 can be located in CAP168, Chapter 3, Movement area bearing strength. The guidance is suitable for licensed and certificated aerodromes. The reason for the early notification is to enable aerodromes to prepare and to participate in essential training to support the change. 33 THE LOG Win 24 pp33 Log Notices.indd 33 01/12/2023 14:50
