The Department for Transport has accepted these opinions and is taking the steps necessary to implement changes to the relevant regulations via an upcoming statutory instrument. We will update the Safety Policy and Legislation tracker once the amending statutory instrument is available. We will also update our regulations page with consolidated versions of the amended regulations as soon as possible after each amendment comes into force. SW2021/251 CAP 2248 : Carriage of Dangerous Goods by RPAS The CAA Innovation Hub has published CAP 2248, which provides guidance to RPAS operators on the requirements and application process to gain approval from the CAA to carry dangerous goods in the UK, including a case study on dangerous goods related to COVID-19 relief efforts. As a first step, the CAA (Dangerous Goods, Flight Operations) has provided an example Dangerous Goods Manual for RPAS operators carrying dangerous goods falling within UN3373 Biological Substances, Category B, which includes COVID-19 test samples. SW2021/268 MATS Pt 1 SI: Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS) The purpose of this Supplementary Instruction (SI) to the Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS) Part 1 (CAP 493) is to update extant text concerning GPWS and to change reference from GPWS to TAWS. With effect from 10 December 2021, the Manual of Air Traffic Services (CAP 493) is amended as shown at Appendix A. SW2021/285 MATS Pt 1 SI 2021/04: Operating at the lower or upper limit of controlled airspace The purpose of this Supplementary Instruction (SI) is to detail changes made to the Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS) Part 1 (CAP 493) relating to aircraft operating at the lower or upper limit of controlled airspace.
