Parkex showguide Making an impact We are delighted to announce that the BPA and its members have decided to support Macmillan Cancer Support for a further 12 months. Nick Hannan, Macmillan relationship fundraising manager, looks at how your fundraising has helped so far, and what is planned for the next year In 2022, our partnership raised an incredible 10,492, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their fundraising efforts and generosity. For those of you who dont already know, Macmillan is 98 per cent funded by donations, so fundraising is essential to ensure we can deliver the vital support that people affected by cancer need. We know that, right now, there are more than three million people living with cancer, but, by 2030, we expect this to reach four million, so demand for our support has never been higher. Its very easy to just talk about the numbers when we look at fundraising achievements, but I think its much more impactful to bring to life what this really means in terms of Macmillan services. This is what 10,492 a huge sum of money means to those who rely on us for support. It could: Fund a Macmillan Nurse for two months, allowing people affected by cancer to receive essential medical, practical and emotional support Pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for nearly four months, helping people living with cancer receive the support they need Support our Cancer Information and Support team to run our Macmillan Support Line phone service for more than two days. In this time, they could deal with 622 calls and web enquiries from people who need questions answered, and practical or financial support. I hope these examples show just how much of an impact your fundraising has made during 2022. Our target for 2023 is simply to do the same again raise another 10,000 for people affected by cancer. We plan to do this through a variety of fundraising events during 2023. These include the pre-Parkex golf day at the Belfry on 5 June and the BPA Members Dinner on 29 November and, of course, our Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning in September. So please get involved and help us support people affected by cancer. Well be holding a collection for Macmillan Cancer Support at Parkex. If youd like to donate, please see us at the BPA stand. Objectives 2023 To give a greater understanding of what we at Macmillan are all about, I also wanted to share with you what our objectives are for 2023: 1. Everyone with cancer will know that they can turn to Macmillan, and how we can help them from the moment they are diagnosed. 2. We want everyone to have a conversation about all their needs and concerns, and get the support thats right for them. 3. We want everyone to have their vital needs met by high-quality services. 4. We want to inspire more people to give to Macmillan so we can continue to be there for people when they need us most. 5. We want to improve the key processes that support Macmillan to do its work as efficiently and effectively as possible. 6. We will reflect and represent the communities we serve in everything we do, to support everyone living with cancer. 32 PN June 2023 pp18-33 Parkex Showguide.indd 32 23/05/2023 16:24
