Editors comment Loud and proud Louise Parfitt on putting the pride back into parking Last month, the British Parking Awards were held in London (see pages 28-29). For the winners and also for those shortlisted, it is recognition of a job brilliantly done, and testament to a huge amount of work, dedication and passion for making what we do even better many congratulations to each and every one of you. But as well as a pat on the back for worthy candidates, these events are important to raise the profile of a sector often undeservedly on the receiving end of much negativitiy. In January, the BPA holds its own much smaller and less glitzy, but equally important People in Parking Awards to recognise the achievements of individuals who put in the hours, inspire others and generally make the parking world a better place. Its your big chance to nominate colleagues for the role they play in keeping streets accessible, people safe, and in supporting their peers to shine. You may also want to consider entering the Ernest Davies Award, awarded to an individual or team that raises the profile of parking through an article, blog, podcast or film (see pages 42-43). In Decembers Parking News, we want to celebrate all the work from every sector of our profession be it a new piece of tech, supporting arrangements to allow the public to pay their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II, or a team dressing in pink to raise money for charity, so please do send us your stories. This is your magazine, so use it to shout about the great work that you and your teams do every day. Please send your stories and pictures to louise.parfitt@cpl.co.uk by 10 November. 7 PN Nov 2022 pp06-07 Editors Comment.indd 7 26/10/2022 16:16
