BPA news Award opens for entries This years Ernest Davies Award for advancing parking knowledge is now open for entries. The BPA encourages all budding parking and traffic management enthusiasts to get creative and enter. . Entries can be written, video or audio; humorous, informative or technical; a blog, a case study or a reflection. As long as it is authored by you or a team of colleagues, parking related and not done in the course of your work, you can enter it. The deadline is 9am on Monday 24 October 2022. Nigel brings a wealth of experience to the role having played a significant part in the advancement of the parking sector, including serving as chair of the BPA Board for eight years. The BPA wishes him every success. November celebrations Tickets are selling fast for the BPAs Members Dinner on Wednesday 23 November. The evening will be held at the stunning De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. New BPA strategic plan Consultation on the BPAs proposed Strategic Plan 2022-25 has now concluded. The Strategic Plan has been developed by BPA Council members in collaboration with the staff team and member intelligence. Following Councils final approval, the new plan will go live this autumn. New range of benefits for BPA Approved Operators A number of new and exclusive membership benefits have been launched this month for BPA Approved Operators. They include: Dedicated website hub New-look monthly e-zine LinkedIn group page The new website hub will be used to provide operators with important updates on the new Private Parking Code and associated framework. It will also offer advice and guidance, free resources and templates, and everything BPA Approved Operators will need to know in readiness for the new private parking framework. Members should check the AOS hub regularly for updates, especially the Members actions required now page, where feedback and opinions will be requested. Congratulations to Conor Greely, who was re-elected as chair of the Technology, Innovation and Research service board, and to Steven Foster, who was newly elected as chair of the Professional Development and Standards board. They join Phil Hammer, who continues as chair of the Operational Services board, and Graham Titchener, chair of the Public Affairs and Communications board, who both stood unopposed. The call for nominations for ordinary member on services boards concluded last month and elections have started for seats where more than one nomination was received. The results of the elections will be announced next month. You can find out more about the role of a service board member at britishparking.co.uk/Elections-Hub All about events The BPAs autumn season of events kicked off this month with the Parking Scotland Expo on 1 September (see pages 18-20). This was followed by the first face-to-face North West Regional Group meeting since 2019, on 6 September, and Yorkshire and Humber regional group meeting on 22 September. Well be reporting on these meetings in the next issue. This month, there will be in-person meetings for other groups the South West (11 October); the North East (17 October) and the South East (31 October), plus virtual meetings for the Parking Tech Interest Group (13 October), Retail and Leisure Group (22 October), and Parking Structures Interest Group (28 October).
