BPA governance Joining Council means that I can make a difference to the future of our sector and give back some of what its given me so far I believe that Council has to push for standards and standardisation. We also need to look at how we can support the training and development of our young people and private parking enforcement had to evolve, to now, with the Parking Code of Practice. I am also proud of playing a key part in developing the online training offer for our members. We need to keep on improving and making sure we offer members the chance to progress. Wherever I have worked, the focus has always been on continuous improvement, and this is what parking is all about. Yes, competition is good, but if we all work together, we can make things better for the sector, for the users, and for all of us who work in it. Thats why I reapplied to Council: I believe I can add value to the discussions and make a difference; its what drives me. There is always something to learn and ideas to be challenged everyone has a view about parking, so the more we engage with each other and others outside the sector, the better we can be. Every day in parking is a different story, from dealing with the press, to speaking to government, to ensuring staff welfare. Just the other day, one of our staff had a gun pulled on them, which is horrific. I was involved in the landmark ParkingEye v Beavis court case* that was heard in the Supreme Court; eventually, the judges ruled in our favour, but it involved a lot of work and many sleepless nights. But thats why I love parking: there is never a dull moment. *See bit.ly/PNOct22PE Hannah Fuller, client services director, JustPark and Parking Technology representative make a difference to the future of our sector and give back some of what its given me so far. I was a little nervous at first, having never done anything like this before. However, having spoken to a few of the existing Council members, I know that I can make a difference by getting involved. I thrive on learning and growing, so its a great opportunity to keep doing this in a different capacity from my day job. Its also an amazing chance to work with some wonderful people who contribute so much to the parking sector. I am really excited to see how it unfolds and get involved. I have so many great memories already of my time in parking, from the launch of Women in Parking and our event at this years Parkex, to the amazing BPA 50th Anniversary Dinner when we all got together for the first time after Covid lockdowns. That was really special, and a great reminder of why Hannah Fuller the parking industry is such a rewarding place to work. I started my career in advertising and media planning in international teams, initially working for JCDecaux and then for global planning agencies. Having done a degree in languages, I was lucky enough to travel the world and use my language skills during the first 10 years of my career. After I had my children, I wanted to be closer to home, so I applied for a job at PayPoint, which owned PayByPhone, and worked there for five years, in operations and client management. I moved to JustPark in January 2019, to work across partnerships and manage clients. With only seven and a half years in parking, I am a newbie compared with some! I set up the BPAs Women in Parking group with Jade Neville in 2020, so I had worked with the BPA already. Joining Council means that I can Council of Representative elections for 2022 have now concluded following a two-year hiatus because of the pandemic. The next 13 seats for the Council of Representatives will come up for election in May 2023; then, by May 2024, it will be back round to those who first came up in 2019.
