BPA news Save the date EPA Congress and Exhibition Dogs Die in Hot Cars campaign The European Parking Associations (EPAs) Congress and Exhibition is taking place from 12-14 September in Brussels, Belgium. There will be plenary sessions looking at topics ranging from the impact of artificial intelligence to urban planning, as well as the chance to meet some of the leading companies in the European parking sector. There is also a gala dinner on day two. To find out more and register, see epacongress.eu As the days start to warm up and more drivers take to the roads for day trips and holiday destinations, the BPA is again encouraging members to promote its Selfish Parker campaign to tackle poor and irresponsible parking at tourist destinations, such as beaches and national parks. A new Communications and Marketing topic area has been added to the BPAs online Resource Library, where you will be able to find and download all of the Selfish Parker posters and social media assets. There are also new variations designed to inform drivers of moving traffic regulations that came into force at the end of last month. These have been created to help drivers learn about some of the areas where enforcement could now take place. With the media already beginning to report on increased visitor numbers in tourist areas and resulting bad parking, now is the ideal time for members to use the materials in their communications to advise any visitors to plan their journeys in advance and park responsibly when they arrive, said Dave Smith, the BPAs head of marketing and communications. In addition, a number of new resources have been added for campervan and motorhome parking, courtesy of CAMpRA, which can be found under the Parking Management topic. The BPA is again part of the Dogs Die in Hot Cars campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the dangers of leaving dogs in cars, especially in warmer months. It is also highlighting the risks of exercising dogs in the heat. The campaign is part of a coalition between the police, charities and member associations, including the British Veterinary Association, Dogs Trust, The National Police Chiefs Council, RSPCA, Scottish SPCA, and Woodgreen. The BPA has supported it for the past four years. BPA members are ideally placed to reinforce the message by placing posters at parking facilities and keeping an eye out for animals in distress in vehicles. Hayley WickerBradbury, the BPAs communications and marketing manager, said: Dogs are often found in our members car parks, which is why we are one of the 13 stakeholders who support this campaign. Parking attendants do the invaluable job of helping the public, and patrolling car parks to prevent dogs being left in hot cars.
