Editors comment Its good to talk Louise Parfitt on the power of support Its been an eventful month, with government laying down the proposals in parliament for the Parking Code of Practice and the AOS Conference, a week later, talking about the consequences and impacts of those proposals. There was huge engagement by members from across the sector on the wider implications of the proposals to drilling down into the detail. Of course, clarification is still needed on how some elements will be applied in practice. The BPA has been invited to join the Code Implementation group and will continue to update members on developments through webinars, emails and ezines. As stressed at the AOS Conference, if members have any concerns, they are urged to get in touch with the BPA: for more on this see pages 3, 8, 18-21 and 47-48. The BPA also held the fantastic People in Parking Awards last month, including announcing the 2021 winner of the Ernest Davies Award. It was a great celebration of some of the champions in the sector: you can read their stories and the Ernest Davies winning article on suicide prevention on pages 36-41. A recent BPA webinar also covered this important topic. There has also been the first webinar in a series of sessions looking at the practicalities of adopting moving traffic enforcement: read more on pages 44-45. Remember you can catch up with any of these events again at britishparking.co.uk Another big story this month is the results of the recent independent survey funded by the BPA into what the public really thinks about parking. There are some interesting finds that the BPA will be using to inform its lobbying and campaigning work and guide its support for members. We investigate how the perceptions are being experienced by parking professionals in their daily working lives: see pages 14-16. We also showcase some of the excellent work being done by members on the ground see pages 22-28. Please continue to share your stories with us so we can carry on sharing, learning and celebrating success. Louise Parfitt louise.parfitt@cpl.co.uk We are International Parking Systems (UK) Ltd.
