People in Parking Awards Women in Parking Award winner Rebecca Maisey, client director, PayByPhone UK I joined PayByPhone as a client account executive in November 2011 from PayPoint. When I joined PayByPhone, it already had a well-established client base, but we only had seven people in the UK office. I have seen the industry and PayByPhone totally transform in that time. In April 2014, I returned from maternity leave to a growing business and started a new role as a client account manager. This enabled me to focus entirely on building strong client relationships. Two years later, I was promoted to senior client manager, and in March 2020, I was promoted to head of client management, leading a team of four. I successfully completed the PayByPhone Aspiring Leaders programme, which focuses on setting up the next generation of leaders. Then, in January 2021, I was promoted again to client director, directly reporting to PayByPhones UK CEO, Jonny Combe, and becoming part of the PayByPhone UK leadership team. Today, my team and I look after more than 180 clients across the UK, and I absolutely love it. Today, there are around 40 of us in the UK, but we still have the same small team ethos everyone pulls in the same direction, we care about each other, and we go the extra mile every day for our clients. I love being an integral part of that. When I was announced as the winner, the first in this new category, I cant really put into words how it felt how it still feels. Recognising women in male-dominated industries like ours is very important. It helps women who are starting out know they too can achieve their goals and be successful alongside their male counterparts. But the best part so far was hearing my little boy tell me he was proud of me. Colleague Award Jon Turner, senior supervisor, NSL Limited I have been with NSL for a little more than a year but have been part of the parking/enforcement sector for about five years here in Bracknell. I started off as a civil enforcement officer (CEO) and worked my way up to supervisor, then to assistant contracts manager. We have a relatively small team of 16 staff, although during the pandemic this grew to 60+ members because we provided Covid marshals in partnership with Bracknell Forest Council. My day-to-day role is to manage the operations and deployment of CEOs, working closely with the client account manager and the local council. We also facilitate the Covid-19 testing centre. When I was told about my nomination, I was rather taken aback but also felt honoured. There are a lot of people in our industry who have done some incredible work during the past year, so being shortlisted was a privilege. However, to go on to win is such an honour and highlights the amazing work the team here has done. You are only as good as the team you have around you as a manager your job isnt just to get the job done but to look after the people who are on the frontline delivering the contract on a daily basis. Community Award winner Androw Hawk, senior officer, Cornwall Council I am a senior officer for civil parking enforcement covering parts of East Cornwall. My role ranges from supervising and coordinating the daily enforcement patrols for the team to working with various agencies to make our communities safer. We visit some stunning locations but the best part is meeting some of the people we come across when out on patrols. Knowing what we do makes a positive difference for them is fantastic. I felt very humbled to be nominated. Every day, right across the country, officers work extremely hard, so when I found out I was shortlisted, it made me feel that what I do really does matter. When it was announced I was the winner, I was buzzing: the feeling of excitement and knowing that the community work I have carried out has been recognised was amazing. Its a privilege to work alongside colleagues who every day go out and make a positive impact in the communities we visit. I feel extremely proud of what we all do. As a team, we are all winners, we support, encourage and help each other to do the best we can. I would like to say thank you to the team, their support is brilliant, or as we say in Cornwall, splann!
