Go to britishparking.co.uk Have your say The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles is seeking views on ways to improve the consumer experience for electric vehicle drivers at public chargepoints. It proposes introducing regulations to improve the consumer experience in four areas, including making it easier to pay and opening up chargepoint data. It also seeks evidence on three emerging policy areas, including accessibility for disabled consumers, weatherproofing and lighting, and signage. The consultation closes on 10 April. To have your views included in the BPAs response, please email the BPA as soon as possible at consultations@britishparking.co.uk To find out more about our consultation work, go to bit.ly/PNApr21EVcons As part of the largest study undertaken to date, the BPA sought to discover motorists true feelings about the parking sector, and found that cash is still king when it comes to paying. With all the options on offer, the study found that 75 per cent of payments are made using cash and that only 30 per cent of motorists feel confident about using a mobile phone for payment. It also found that, where contactless card payments are accepted, this method and cash are motorists preferred options. Respondents also confirmed that they didnt pay for parking very often; around a third said they paid to park less than once a month.. Where demand is high, providing flexible tariffs could be a way to manage supply and demand, particularly in high streets, where there could be lower tariffs in car parks situated further away from town centres. More than half of respondents said they would be happy to walk for 5-10 minutes to their destination. If coupled with the governments focus on more walking and cycling, this could boost active travel initiatives. Kelvin Reynolds, BPA director of corporate and public affairs, said: It is encouraging to see that motorists are happy to walk further than they might have done in the past. With initiatives such as the BPAs Park Active scheme, which encourages walking and cycling from peripheral car parks, this could help to revive our high streets, as the environmental and health benefits will make them more attractive places to be. Find out more about Park Active at park-active.co.uk New group chooses bold logo The Women in Parking group is pleased to introduce its new logo (pictured right), which was voted for by members of the group. Women in Parking founder member Hannah Fuller said: When we asked the designer at JustPark who is a very talented woman in parking if she could design a logo for us, she jumped at the chance. We asked for something that could be used across lots of formats, that was clean, professional, and not pink! She came up with 10 concepts that was narrowed down to three options and put to the vote on the Women in Parking community page. We knew there would be was option one. With the variety of colours available, this logo will be bright and bold just like us! Founder member Jade Neville added: The logo represents a bold and focused group that aims to support and inspire women to build a rewarding career in parking. We hope the logo will evolve with us as the group grows. Kindly sponsored by Marston Holdings. The Women in Parking group s next meeting will be on 29 April.
