Editors comment Beating the Brexit blues Louise Parfitt on how the conference proved to be a welcome distraction What an event! I am talking about the BPAs Annual Conference that was everything its name promised it would be a real game-changer! At the time of writing, we still dont know what, if any, Brexit deal we may get so to have a frank and comprehensive overview of our profession and the many others with which it is interwined was very welcome. It was a credit to the BPA team that there were so many brilliant speakers and inspired debates discover more on pages 20-22. As we look to revise the legal and economic ties with our European counterparts, it is important that we continue to share knowledge and deepen partnerships in other ways. The European Parking Association Congress in September was attended by several representatives from the BPA, and you can read the review of the event on pages 32-35. One topic discussed at our Annual Conference charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is picked up in our lead feature this month. Its an issue that brings many opportunities, but raises even more questions. Writer Sarah Juggins discovered many interesting suggestions during her research (see pages 16-18). The Transport (Scotland) Bill is set to become law, after passing its third and final stage at Holyrood (see page 8). It was not plain sailing; the two-day debate saw a motion to remove the workplace parking levy rejected, and several MSPs abstained from the final vote. Work progresses in England and Wales to address some of the proposals the Scotland bill will enforce, including a ban on pavement parking. Lilian Greenwood MP gives her opinion of this issue on page 45. I look forward to seeing many of you at this months eagerly anticipated Members Dinner (see page 42). Until then, please send me your tales of your parking heroes wed love to give them all a mention in the December issue of the magazine.
