Editors comment Blue planet Louise Parfitt on how the BPA is helping you to look after our world Autumn is well under way, and the BPA events season is in full swing. From the superb Parking Scotland Expo last month, to the eagerly anticipated Annual Conference this month and the popular annual Members Dinner in November, plus the many meetings in between, the BPA membership team is pulling out all the stops to keep you informed, inspired and energised to take what you learn back into your everyday working lives. I was keen to return to the Scotland Expo after an amazing day last year, and 2019s event did not disappoint. I left with my head buzzing with ideas and knowledge and I met so many brilliant people, keen to share their experiences of how to make parking better (pages 24-27). I am now looking forward to this months Game changer Annual Conference (see pages 38-40). Its one not to miss, so make sure you beg, borrow or share a lift to London on 17 October. Our news bag is bursting with stories of pavement parking ban recommendations, TRO Discovery Project developments, parent brand launches, eco-designs and new partnerships, so it is clearly a busy time for all. What better way to share all your good work than by coming along to the conference or looking ahead to one of the BPAs 2020 events (see pages 42-43)? There is so much heightened awareness of how our actions affect the planet and how we can best care for our world the so-called Blue Planet effect. This issues lead feature looks at how social values charters are helping local authorities and private firms alike to deliver a fairer, greener and more efficient way of working to benefit their customers, clients and our wider communities (pages 16-18). We are delighted to have a contribution from the Department of Transport this issue, talking about its Transport Technology Forum (pages 36-37), and to spend some time chatting to Jade Neville, head of parking services OCS and active BPA member (pages 14-15). As always, its an honour to gather these stories to share with you. Louise Parfitt editor@britishparking.co.uk britishparking.co.uk 7 PN Oct19 pp06-07 Editors Comment.indd 7 23/09/2019 13:45
