AppyWay has been launched to articulate better the firms vision of smart, connected cities where intelligent mobility can ourish. Hubert founded AppyParking in 2013 with the ambition of solving the common frustration of finding a parking space. By showing drivers where they can and cant park on-street, the app continues to help reduce the almost four days each UK motorist spends looking for parking every year. The challenge of building up the UKs largest set of standardised kerbside data led the entrepreneur to realise the uptapped potential lying under everyones feet. He said: Were seeing the demise of the high street, and the governments recent commitment of up to 1bn for the Future High Streets Fund demonstrates the need for urgent action. The Future High Streets Fund is an initiative led by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, providing up to 25m of investment per area, for local authorities to prepare long-term strategies for their high streets and town centres. A key focus for the funding is to improve transport and access into town centres and to invest in vital infrastructure. Drivers will also be able to use PayByPhones services at any of TfLs 80 station car parks, which NCP manages as well. Jonny Combe, PayByPhones UK CEO, said: After signing the agreement with NCP last year, this is another exciting stage in our partnership. Mobile payments have many advantages to drivers and operators, and help make the parking experience hassle-free. Additionally, motorists in Sandwell Councils 50 car parks and 55 on-street bays can now benet from the PayByPhone app. PayByPhone, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Financial Services, has expanded into Belgium, Germany, Italy and Spain. This follows PayByPhones recent announcement of its UK acquisition of Mirada Connect. This means that PayByPhone is now available in more than 500 cities in 12 countries around the world, with nearly 29.1 million registered users paying for parking via the PayByPhone app or website. SWARCO eVolt wins first Engenie order SWARCO eVolt, the award-winning electric vehicle (EV) charging business, has announced the first order from EV charging network Engenie for 150kW ultra-rapid charging points intended for its expanding UK network. This follows the supply partnership deal signed last year between the two parties for 500 of SWARCO eVolts Raption 50kW units. Since then, Engenie has secured additional investment and now plans to broaden its charging network further, aiming for 2,000 rapid charging points across the UK by 2024. This will double the total number of rapid charge points currently in the UK. Meanwhile, SWARCO eVolt has agreed a new programme with Forev, the Scottish-based EV charging infrastructure provider, to provide the technology and service support to help Forev create a network of fast/rapid EV chargers throughout Scotland. Led by CEO and founder Lindsay Wallace, Forev will use only 100 per cent accredited clean energy. New solution for Cambridge SWARCO Traffic has signed an agreement with Cambridgeshire County Council to replace existing traffic technology with an innovative new traffic guidance and parking solution to reduce congestion and improve air quality. SWARCO will install 17 full-colour RGB Matrix signs at strategic locations across Cambridge and the surrounding areas, which can be programmed to display any image and provide traffic information and guidance for drivers, as well as any upcoming events.
