QUALITY IS PART OF OUR DNA F E ATU RE New Brazilian Affiliate One Moving & Logistics prides itself on making a difference in a country surrounded by corruption scandals. Executive Director Wesley Thom explains O ne Moving & Logistics may still be in its infancy, having started in 2016, but the company has the pursuit of quality and technological innovation in its DNA. More than 80 per cent of its team has in excess of 10 years experience in the industry. And it has already grown considerably in the international, domestic and fine arts markets. WESLEY THOM In a country surrounded by corruption scandals, One Moving puts itself on the market to make a difference FF: What are the key characteristics of your local market? TC: The moving market in Brazil and throughout Latin America is relatively complex because of changes in legislation, port charges and bureaucratic procedures. So it is very good to always have experienced professionals who know all the legal and operational procedures. Compliance has been key to our company and was one of the requirements to receive investment from a hedge fund. In a country surrounded by corruption scandals, One Moving put itself on the market to make a difference, following the legislation strictly, to ensure procedures, tranquility and transparency with agents and clients. FF: How has the countrys moving industry evolved during the past decade or so? TC: If we could define it in one word it would be instability. We had a great time in our economy around 2011, and a huge crisis in 2016. Our expectation is that the Brazilian economy will grow again in the coming years and we can at least have a more stable business environment. Members of the One Moving team hard at work FF: Where do you see your biggest opportunities for growth? TC: Although Brazil already has many extremely qualified competitors, we see a huge opportunity to market ourselves with a total focus on quality. We listen to the demands of our clients and agents and understand the gaps in our market. FF: What are your main strengths as an organisation? TC: People! Our team is our main strength. We invest greatly in training and processe, as well as a solid policy of recognition and meritocracy. Another strength is our culture of innovation. We were born innovative. We encourage our team to bring and implement differentiated procedures that really make a difference. We also have a great investment in technology, which guarantees efficient and precise processes. FF: Why did you decide to join FIDI? TC: Joining FIDI was already part of the initial business plan. We strongly believe that the international certification and networking offered by FIDI is very relevant to our business. FF: What were the biggest challenges you had to overcome during the FAIM process? TC: The biggest challenge was the organisation, certifying and reviewing that all requirements were met, from warehouse issues such as fire detectors to communication with suppliers. The whole process makes the team come together to make everything work, from packers, coordinators, managers and directors. In our company, we involve everyone in the certification process. One fact that makes us very proud is that we did not lose any points in the certification process. We believe that few companies achieve this on their first attempt. FF: How have you found being a FIDI Affiliate so far? TC: So far, the feedback has been extremely positive. Besides the trust with agents, customers here in Brazil demand FAIM certification. We are proud to have signed a two-year contract with a large international automaker that required FAIM certification in its bid process. FF: What does the future hold for your company? TC: We believe that today, humbly, we are the international moving company with the best quality in Brazil. We expect to maintain this position with technology, innovation, solid processes, respect for employees, customers and suppliers, and with a highly motivated and trained team. WW W. F I D I.
