POLICY IMPACTS With 87% of members satisfied or very satisfied with their experience of the ABI this year, heres an overview of some of the many issues weve been delivering on behalf of the insurance and long-term savings industry. Delivering Solvency UK Following intensive advocacy from the ABI, the government confirmed its package for reform of Solvency II, delivering on industry demands for change, that will bring direct benefit to all GI and Life insurers when implemented as Solvency UK. Increasing customer understanding of GI Pricing changes We reached more than 9.4 million people with our consumerfocused digital campaign on the introduction of General Insurance Pricing reforms from the Financial Conduct Authority, with an equivalent of 44% of the UK population being made aware of the changes and their impact as a result. Meeting the challenge on climate change We have successfully persuaded HMRC to spread the impact of the accounting transition to IFRS 17 and worked to secure concessions favourable for the sector at an international level with the OECD. This year, we launched a health outcomes data collection the first industry-led data collection of its kind and scale to improve the evidence base on the value of health and protection insurance for use in influencing policy-makers. A leading voice on DEI Addressing delegates at our second annual Climate Change Summit in June, HRH The Prince of Wales, now HM King Charles, challenged every individual and every firm in this sector to take action in the four areas set out in the ABIs own excellent roadmap. Shaping the tax framework in the UK and abroad Building the health and protection evidence base Our sectors leading Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Blueprint launched at our DEI Summit in November sets an ambitious path for change to create a sector that attracts and retains the brightest and the best. Driving Dashboards forward We have driven progress on Pensions Dashboards to emphasise the industry position, secure legislative and regulatory frameworks and press for a collaborative approach to the rollout to the public. Boosting Pension Attention In collaboration with the Pension and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA), grime MC Big Zuu helped us to spread the word on why consumers should Pay Your Pension Some Attention, reaching more than 28 million people across the UK. Fraud and financial crime This year, we have lobbied the government to extend the reach of its Online Safety Bill and contributed to the development of the Economic Crime Plan (ECP) and UK Fraud Strategy. Consumer Duty We successfully secured an extension from the FCA on the implementation of the Consumer Duty from nine to 12 months (July 2023) for all existing products and services, and to 24 months (July 2024) for closed products and services. Discover how we are #SecuringFutures We launched our cross-industry #SecuringFutures campaign to drive home to policy-makers the significant role and contribution our industry has in bringing peace of mind to customers and strengthening the economy. Weathering the storms Supporting savers of the future We led the industry response to storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin, including activating our Major Incident Protocol and ensuring the industrys voice was prominent to key stakeholders including customers, the media, politicians and government. As we marked the 10-year anniversary of Auto Enrolment, we published a landmark report setting out our calls for government to define an action plan for the next decade. We also worked with the Fabian Society to produce the Good Pensions for All report, informing Labour Party policy on pensions and savings. Supporting greater financial resilience As part of our response to the cost-of-living crisis we developed a practical information hub with guidance and support for consumers. Weve also partnered with Plain Numbers to improve how we communicate with customers and through the Financial Resilience APPG, explored how households could be made more resilient to financial shocks. Representing you at home and abroad We have represented members at many events, conferences and key meetings, across the UK and internationally throughout the year. This has included representing the UK sector in international dialogues on key issues in Brussels, Washington, Dubrovnik, Santiago and Prague ensuring that UK views are heard in Europe and at an international level on issues such as the global tax and regulatory framework.
