UK staff nominated at national industry awards The skys the limit for Australian team The SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit team in Australia has been awarded the Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) contract for the Forrestfield Airport Link Project by the Public Transport Authority (PTA) of Western Australia. The ISA will give the PTA an independent professional opinion on the completeness and robustness of Two members of the UK Rail & Transit team were shortlisted at the Rail Staff Awards 2017. Ben Sutcliffe and May-Ann Lew were nominated for Recruiter of the Year and Project Manager of the Year respectively. The annual ceremony celebrates the achievements of employees within the rail sector. The UK team was also shortlisted in two categories at the Engagement Excellence Awards 2017, which celebrate the best in employee engagement. It featured in the Best Evolution of Company Benets and Engagement Team of the Year categories. the safety arguments presented for the Forrestfield-Airport Link (FAL). The scope of the independent safety assessment which will be supplied in conjunction with delivery partner Bamser will span all aspects of the FAL project, including the tunnels, stations, rail-control systems and communications systems. Transport Advisory provides winning bid support for SMRT SMRT Trains, the Singapore rail operator, has recently been awarded the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) operating contract in Singapore. The TEL is a new metro line that lies to the north of the island. SMRTs bid team was supported by the SNCLavalin Transport Advisory team, working with colleagues from the Rail & Transit team. We are delighted that SMRT was successful, said Marianne Kilpatrick, UK Director of Transport Advisory. Two key areas that SNCLavalin helped SMRT to concentrate on were the introduction of the incentive/disincentive financial model and the level of predictive maintenance investment to achieve their targets. These were important to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SNCLavalin made sure they had prominence within the bid. LTA has also recognised the importance of more collaborative working and Transport Advisory will be providing expertise in this area to ensure SMRT meet their committed obligations. The Transport Advisory team has a wealth of experience in helping rail operators to secure contracts and franchises, including Arrivas successful bids for Northern Rail and London Overground. APTA 2017 leadership class and annual meeting Yolanda Favors graduated from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) leadership class at its 2017 annual meeting and EXPO, hosted in Atlanta. Theclass was made up of 25specially selected managers from APTA member organisations, who aspire to senior positions within the public transportation sector. Yolanda is a qualified attorney with extensive experience in government regulatory compliance, contracts and real estate. She joined the SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit team in 2015 as Compliance Manager. At the event, Yolanda presented In Transit We Trust as part of snclavalin.com Leadership APTA during the Rail CEO Subcommittee meeting. SNC-Lavalin Principal Consultant Brian Donohue also shared his expertise at the annual meeting. Brian spoke about configuration management solutions as applied to rail transportation during the technical innovation session at the EXPO.
