Editors comment Team works Editor Louise Parfitt and BPA director of communications Caron Fassetta reflect on planning for an end-of-year issue unlike any other One of the best parts of working on Parking News is the chance we get to speak to so many of you from across our sector, the UK, and beyond. We learn so much, are constantly inspired, often humbled, occasionally challenged, and we have both made great acquaintances and good friends. Putting this issue together was no exception: we were able to hear your stories of the year that has been. The commitment, passion and pride in what each and every one of you has done was evident. From adapting parking assets to teams stepping out of their comfort zones, our profession should be so proud of all the work done to support the community and country during a bleak time. When we were planning this issue, we wanted to shine a light on all that you have achieved, while recognising how difficult it has been, and continues to be. We hope that this edition does justice to your work we know there are so many more stories not featured here, so if you have one to tell, please get in contact with us. Our regular writer (and former editor) Sarah Juggins discovers how perceptions of our profession have fluctuated throughout the year from loathed to loved and back again (pages 14-16). The BPA is committed to trying to change the narrative around how parking is viewed, and there is much work going on among members to do so, but it will take time and effort. Our People in Parking awards was launched to help demonstrate this work, and to show appreciation for a job that is not often recognised by others as done well. The awards shortlist is revealed on page 46, and the winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony later this month. We hope to share some of their stories with you next year. Wed like to thank you all for giving us your time and support in bringing Parking News to members this year. We often say it, but without you, there is no magazine. Parking News is a team effort that starts with you and ends with the brilliant Royal Mail workers; wed like to thank every one who is involved along the way. We hope in some way the magazine has brought you inspiration, comfort and joy during a tough year. Have a happy festive season and all good wishes for the new year.
