IAM news Latest stories from and about the Institute Conference time IAM Discussion Forum The IAM has launched a dedicated discussion forum enabling members and non-members to engage in conversation on areas that are of interest to the global asset management community. This forum will enable asset managers around the world to engage in discussion, share views, offer support, and make a statement around a particular asset management area. Discussion areas have assigned moderators who will be ensuring the conversations are all relevant. But if you would like to recommend a new discussion topic, there is a dedicated area within the forum for this. The worldwide asset management community is gearing up to meet at the IAMs Global Conference 2022, to be held virtually in June. This year, it will focus on maturity and how it yields benefits at all levels, as well as on the circular economy as both a driver and outcome of asset management. The two-day event will offer a chance to share real-life examples in a diverse range of presentations, workshops, formal learning, on-demand material and networking opportunities. We are also excited to announce that there will be a virtual event space for delegates, designed to enable networking, create debate and enhance the overall conference experience. Also included will be an interactive exhibition area offering the chance for delegates to find out the best and most innovative services and tools to help with their asset management needs. Dr Najib H Dandachi, one of our keynote speakers, will examine infrastructure asset management in highgrowth countries and offer a Gulf Cooperation Council perspective. The already complicated life-cycle management of infrastructure assets becomes more challenging in high-growth countries where there can be tension between the short and long term, as well as pressure to Dr Najib H Dandachi prioritise effectiveness over efficiency and meet stakeholders high expectations. Also speaking at the event will be Howard Shotz, who is set to share his experience in implementing a GIS-powered digital twin at Dallas Fort-Worth (DFW) Airport. This session will discuss initial work to define the digital governance standards, stand up the cloud-based platform, link GIS services and CAD models, and Howard Shotz develop live integrations to several existing systems of record such as enterprise asset management, building management systems, a runway inspection database, and sensor data. With a wide range of speakers, more than 2,000 delegates and the leading asset management companies in attendance, this is a key conference for the asset management community. Remember, you do not have to be a paid member of the IAM in order to attend anybody can book by signing up for a free IAM account here. IAM mega-trends for 2022 With infrastructure high on the global agenda, the IAM stays committed to helping governments, investors, asset owners, operators, and managers maximise value from assets. To ensure the IAM remains on the right strategic path, the Board and Council recently catalogued the top mega-trends impacting the asset management community at a global level. An IAM draft position paper has been produced documenting the nine mega-trends impacting the asset management community for 2022. It sets out how asset management can contribute to the opportunities and resolve the global challenges we all face. We welcome input and comments from anyone interested in the world around us.
