F E ATU RE that occur periodically; this is a challenge with which all service industries must cope. FF: Where do you see the biggest opportunities for growth? GG: The use of new technologies focusing on fresh markets and differing types of customers is a great challenge. The type of expatriate customer has been evolving in recent years, so changes in policies and business culture are needed. Argentina is considered an emerging market, which increases investment and the movement of expatriates and services related to international removals and DSP. Guillermo Gotelli (GG): Argentinas moving market is always changing and, as always in this country, you can expect the unexpected. Periodic changes in regulations and customs requirements are a challenge. In recent years, our country has experienced growth in the oil, gas and mining industries; this has generated investments by multinational companies, which has increased the number of expatriates and the volume. We have also seen some increases in business from the agricultural, financial and IT services sectors. FF: How has your countrys moving industry evolved over the past 10 years? GG: The number of private removals has reduced considerably, while corporate business and Argentinian diplomatic officials and embassy moves have increased. The volume of goods moved has fallen there are now fewer removals of more than one container. There has been an increase in air shipments. These are global phenomena and we must be prepared for these changes. In addition, Argentinas economic situation has reduced domestic costs, making the market more competitive internationally. Meanwhile, we have seen an increase of small companies that are not providing quality services and damaging the reputation of the moving industry. The Argentinian market fluctuates with economic crises FF: How would you describe your companys business ethos? GG: Founded in 2000, Argenvans promotes innovation and new ideas. We are an ethical business that respects the work of others - our managers encourage this daily and create a warm work environment. Vice President Juan Carlos Parera and I are the main drivers of these values; we are teachers, guides and mentors for the staff, leading with enthusiasm and a love of the world of international removals. FF: What are your main strengths as an organisation? GG: We have a strong presence in the local and international market, and are well known for our highquality work. We have well-qualified staff with vast experience in the field of international removals and customer service. Most of our personnel have worked in the company for more than 10 years; those who have joined more recently receive exhaustive training and constant monitoring and supervision. Argenvans management is very open to innovation and quickly adapts to the new demands of the international market - and it encourages staff to contribute ideas and projects to develop the company. FF: Why did you decide to join FIDI? GG: The company has experienced steady growth over the past 15 years. It has become a member of IAM, PAIMA and LACMA, and achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification so the next logical step for us was FIDI. We took the challenge and decided to apply for the FIDI FAIMPLUS certification. We are very proud to have succeeded. FF: How did you find the FAIM process? GG: It was straightforward. Having attained ISO 9001:2015 certification, we already had many of the requirements in place. We had to align some of our procedures and train more staff to achieve the FAIM PLUS standard. FF: Are you looking forward to playing an active role in the FIDI association? GG: Our management is very committed to the quality standards that FIDI represents and wants the company to participate actively in the association. We hope to benefit from the training programmes and seminars offered by the FIDI Academy, as well as from the wide network of high-quality agents that FIDI provides. 79 15/07/2019 15:23
