F E AT U R E Management and staff believe the future looks bright HARD WORK TRULY DOES PAY OFF PT. Kellys Express started operations on 1 June 2007, with just a few staff/packers and one truck. With lots of hard work and good, healthy management and support, the firms turnover had increased six-fold by the end of 2018. FF: Why did you decide to join FIDI? MR: The idea of joining FIDI had been with us for a long time, but only at the end of 2017 did we really dare to join. Becoming a FIDI Affiliate is essential for anyone who wants their company to be a successful international moving business. FF: How have you found being a FIDI Affiliate so far? MR: We have only been a FIDI Affiliate for about two months, but we have already received many enquiries and consignments from FIDI partners. This makes our future prospects look very good, and fills our staff with positivity for the long-term future. FF: How did you find the FAIM compliance process? MR: Overall, there were no significant obstacles in our FAIM process because we had assigned one staff member to become a FAIM coordinator. We had also received a lot of input from many friends in other moving companies. The biggest challenge was that we wanted to get FAIMPLUS certification, so we strived to get the ISO 9001:2015 certification first. After some hard work and earnest dedication from all the Kellys Express staff, we managed to get both certifications in the same year. FF: Finally, what does the future hold for your company? MR: We have built a worldwide network of carefully selected partners who are ready to work together to move clients anywhere in the world. Kellys Express has also formed an international reputation by delivering reliable, trustworthy transportation services. This year we will be celebrating our 12th anniversary. We hope that, with more hard work and good management, Kellys Express will achieve its 15th anniversary by opening our own offices and warehouses with a permanent Kellys House for the next generation. MAMMOTH MOVE FOR AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY In December 2015, Kellys Express handled an imported shipment for the new Australian Embassy in Jakarta. We delivered 25 40ft high-cube containers, which came from three ports Australia, Italy and China. All the containers arrived within five working days for discharge. The logistics for this project were colossal. All the goods had to arrive in the Kellys warehouse before 5am and were to be delivered before 7.30am on the same day. This meant that all goods were to be discharged, sorted according to block plans, transferred onto trucks and transported to the security gate, which was around 3km away because of high security arrangements, with penalty clauses applied for late arrival, damages and missing items. To accomplish this, we had one team on standby at a new warehouse arranged especially for this project to unload and sort the cargo into parcels, load them onto trucks and send them to security at the embassy. This operation was completed without any penalties for delays, damages or missing items. Kellys Express has relocated more than six embassies, and this one was by far the most challenging of them all. The business is now on the waiting list to relocate one of the main regional administrative offices in April 2019. 58 FF290 pp56-59 New Affiliate Kellys Express.indd 58 A glimpse of Kellys warehousing facilities WWW.
