Member survey: the results. Reboot trust and perceptions of the sector, manage the post-Brexit landscape, and further deepen our relationships and reach within government and with regulators. That is what members would most like the ABI to deliver on their behalf over the next year, according to our survey. After the tumult of 2020, the four areas members regard as most important to their company going forward are: E ngaging with the government on the review of the post-Brexit regulatory framework for financial services (60%) L eading the industrys response on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector (49%) E ngaging with government and regulators as expectations in relation to climate risk continue (40%) L obbying for proportionate regulation and competitive domestic and international taxation for our sector (32%) Other areas that featured highly were championing diversity and inclusion across the sector and through our workforce; developing consumer-facing communications campaigns; advocating on behalf of the sector on areas such as flood defences; and the role and value of products such as private health and protection insurance. Help government and regulators to understand that our industry is part of the solution, not the problem and ensure that there are no unintended consequences on the industry of Covid actions Our survey also revealed that 61% of members believe the ABI is strongly modernising to deliver for its members. Its been an extraordinary year and the sheer commitment and energy that the team has put in is astounding. If anything, through this period, the industry has pulled together not necessarily visible to the world outside, but it is a credit to the ABI team General Insurance Member 91% of members feel positive about membership of the ABI Our greatest successes in 2020 Members have been impressed by the ABIs response to the pandemic, both in terms of how we have dealt with the policy challenges it has posed and how we have adapted, operationally, to meet member needs. Our challenges in 2020 CEO, Life, Protection & Investment Member Members felt that the FCA test case, and the impact on relationships with stakeholders and reputation, have been among the greatest challenges of the year.
