Helping people in their hour of need

Covid-19 Support Fund. The UK insurance and long-term savings industry launched the Covid-19 Support Fund in May 2020, to help support some of the people hardest hit by the crisis. The fund works in partnership with the Charities Aid Foundation and a network of partners to help people in their hour of need Reaching its fundraising target of 100m, the insurance and long-term savings industry has grown its Covid-19 Support Fund into the biggest sector fund in the UK. Voluntary donations from firms within the sector have amounted to 84m. From this, 20m has been granted to an initiative with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and this has been match funded by the governments Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Since the launch of our coronavirus appeal, generous pledges have meant we have been able to distribute more than 30m and make more than 4,000 grants to charities across the UK. We are hugely appreciative of the support from the insurance and long-term savings community, and will work to ensure the funds raised are distributed quickly to those who are most in need The key aim is to provide immediate relief to charities affected by Covid-19, as well as a longer-term programme of support for people, communities and issues that have the greatest need, including: Community-based charities that are under unprecedented strain Charities supporting the most vulnerable in particular, families and children living in poverty, and older people in isolation Initiatives to promote wellbeing and mental health across society You can learn more about the work of the fund and our supporters here: www.covid19support.org.uk General Lord Dannatt, Chairman of the National Emergencies Trust (NET) 105m raised to support charities 20m to support NETs coronavirus appeal, helping more than 10,000 charities More than 37 donors from across the industry Stories from the front line Here are just a few of the ways the fund is supporting communities across the UK.
