News Around the group Global insights, projects and people from across Interfleet and SNC-Lavalin INtERFLEEt APPOINtED tO PROvIDE EXPERtISE ON CROSSRAIL 2 n UK team deliver for Hitachi n Interfleets Projects team in the UK has worked with Hitachi to deliver its AT200 and AT100 mock-up project. The Interfleet team, led by Rick Hill and Jon Newton, was commissioned to give project management and engineering support for the design, integration, system procurement and manufacture. The mock-ups were produced to prove concept designs for a futuristic train interior that included many innovative and fully functioning systems. Interfleet also managed the process of mock-up manufacture and provided onsite support throughout the build. Hitachi Rail Europe Chief Operating Officer Andy Barr said: Interfleet has done a brilliant job for us and has delivered this project to a very tight deadline. The work required the development of close working relationships with our team, supply chain, the mock-up manufacturer, the events management company and Hitachis concept design partner. Its been a pleasure to work with them. n hill.r@interfleet.co.uk Interfleet has done a brilliant job for us and has delivered this project to a very tight deadline Andy Barr Hitachi Rail Europe Interfleet in the UK has been appointed to assist in the design and development of the Crossrail 2 project a multi-billion-pound project in the UK. transport for London (tfL) announced the appointment of four consultancies to work on the project. ARCADIS hyder leads a consultancy team to deliver Work Package 1, further developing the engineering concept at the start of this prestigious, major London project. Interfleet is an important part of the team, and will work with ARCADIS hyder, providing engineering and technical aspects of the project. the appointed consultancies will work with tfL to help build the case for Crossrail 2 and prepare more detailed proposals for public consultation later in the summer. UK team to work with Serco and Lombard on the Caledonian sleeper franchise n The Interfleet uk team has been selected by serco & Caledonian sleepers Rail Leasing to project manage the design, build and introduction of 75 new sleeper coaches that will be manufactured by rail systems provider CAF. Interfleets role will be to manage all contractual and commercial activities, undertake design reviews, provide onsite resident engineering, witness tests and undertake maintenance readiness audits. Magnus Conn, Interfleet uks Rolling stock director, said: We are delighted to have been selected for this high-profile contract for a franchise that will provide business and leisure travellers with a premium service. The Caledonian sleeper services are a key part of the transport network and were excited to be supporting both serco and Lombard in transforming this iconic rail service for Transport scotland. Transport scotland has selected serco to operate all aspects of the service. The franchise involves the operation of overnight passenger services between London Euston and each of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen and Fort William. The coaches are being funded with a 60m capital grant from the scottish government, with additional financing provided by Caledonian sleepers Rail Leasing, a subsidiary of Lombard North Central. The franchise is scheduled to start in April 2015, with new rolling stock being introduced into service in April 2018. There will be five different types of sleeper, formed into four trains of 16 coaches, plus 11 spare coaches for the franchise, operating the highland and lowland services. n www.transportscotland.gov.uk Interfleet welcomes new Regional Directors n mark hughes is the new Regional Director for Australasia. he has worked for Interfleet in a number of roles since 2003, managing the London business for five years before moving to Australia in 2014 with his family as Interfleets transport Advisory Director. mark has 20 years of experience and awareness of industry issues throughout the rail sector and the wider transport environment, having held frontline operations, traincrew and performance-management roles. As a consultant he has supported numerous franchise bids in areas of the Operations and Service Delivery Plan. n Sweden has a new Regional Director, mikael Ahlen. mikael started his career in the Swedish Armed forces and then moved to the private sector, DhL and mtR. he has joined Interfleet from Capgemini, where he has been working as Senior Consultant. he has more than 20 years of experience in consultancy, leadership and management roles. Rail Companion was also shortlisted in the mobile technology category.
