Editorial A truly global Viewpoint I am pleased to introduce the fourth issue of Viewpoint, the global magazine delivering news and views from the world of Rail & Transit at SNC-Lavalin. In our cover story, rail for all seasons, we focus on projects being carried out in snow and searing desert heat to help clients across the globe. We also explore innovative work undertaken by the Rail & Transit team to solve tricky seasonal issues, such as leaves on the line. Continuing with our global theme, SNC-Lavalins transformative acquisition of the Atkins business has strengthened the worldwide reach of the business. I discuss what this means for the companys Rail & Transit offering with Philip Hoare, Managing Director of Transportation for Atkins in the UK and Europe. As the SNC-Lavalin and Atkins teams come together, an inspiring example of teamwork is seen. Twocolleagues from SNC-Lavalins Toronto office have taken interactions to a new level, thanks to their use of signlanguage. Our article on asset management highlights another lesson in collaborative working. Colleagues all over the world with expertise in this field are contributing to one of our Global Product Networks. We discuss thefuture talent who will be contributing to this network (and others) over the coming years, in our feature about the Rail &Transit graduate scheme. As a global business, our employees often have the opportunity to work abroad. We introduce Richard Catlow, who has enjoyed an electrifying career with us across several continents. Last but by no means least you can meet Iain Rae from our Scottish team on the back page. Iain talks about the weather, knowing your customers... and comedy classics! We hope you like our latest issue and if you have any queries, suggestions or comments, please send these to viewpoint@snclavalin.com.
