ARE YOU THE NEXT GEN? By BALPA’s nextGen Steering Group The nextGen Steering Group is here to help Alot went on in the aviation industry in 2018, and 2019 is set to be another busy year. 2018’s biggest talking points, such as the increased level of airline recruitment, new flight training routes opening up (stay tuned for more) and Brexit, are likely to continue to feature heavily in 2019, and we will keep you updated on all of them. While BALPA and the nextGen Steering Group keeps abreast of all of these topics, some workstreams are more time- consuming and require extra attention. We have some good work taking place behind the scenes at BALPA HQ, with ongoing campaigns such as the Higher Education Review, and developing the nextGen programme. A lot of effort has gone into dealing with concerns raised by our nextGen membership about issues experienced during training. Rest assured that we are aware of them and we are doing all we can. As soon as we have any news, we’ll let you know. In the coming months, keep an eye out on BALPA TV and YouTube for some new videos featuring information that should be useful for anyone planning to start training, right up to those looking for their first job. We also want to hear from you.
