LOG NOTICES READ MORE Pilots’ Advisory Group The latest information and safety notices SW2019/11 Airprox data and analysis The UK Airprox Board (UKAB) has published its annual safety magazine for GA pilots and air traffic controllers. It looks at the factors leading to a serious loss of separation between aircraft, and how such incidents can be avoided. UKAB has also published an in-depth statistical analysis of all airprox incidents that occurred in 2017. SW2019/10 Update to EU exit information – aerospace design organisations We have updated the information on our microsite concerning aerospace design organisations in the event of a non-negotiated EU exit. This includes details about the CAA’s application process for UK DOA and gives further information following publication of the European Commission’s draft regulations. SW2019/008 Infringement update: pilot fined for infringing RA(T) Magistrates imposed a £1,250 fine after a pilot pleaded guilty to infringing the RAF Cosford RA(T) in June 2018. SW2019/06 Alert for airspace department location change The UK Civil Aviation Authority Airspace Regulation Department has moved from CAA House in London to Aviation House near Gatwick Airport. SW2019/04 Revised guidance for logbook submission The CAA has revised its guidance to licence applications relating to the submission of logbooks/logbook evidence. SW2019/002 Helicopter Special Events Briefing 2019 After the positive response from industry to last year’s meeting, the British Helicopter Association, with support from the Civil Aviation Authority, held another Helicopter Special Events Briefing. This enabled heliport operators to brief industry on their plans for the coming season and facilitate an open exchange with industry. SW2019/001 Class A HTAWS review of alerting now published Class A HTAWS Warning Annunciation (CAP 1747) reports on research into the optimum means of alerting helicopter flight crews to Class A Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) alerts. It complements the development work on Class A HTAWS alert envelopes reported in CAP 1538 and CAP 1519, and addresses AAIB Safety Recommendation 2016-11 and 2016-12. SW2018/256 Air operators requested to update dangerous goods manuals and training programmes The next edition of ICAO Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air took effect on 1st January 2019 and introduced changes to cargo and passenger operations. Operators must provide instructions on dangerous goods in their operations manuals and maintain dangerous goods training programmes. Specimen manual entries reflecting the changes are published on the CAA website.
