An offshoot of Siemens Mobility, Yunex Traffic collaborated with Portsmouth City Council to launch a new clean air zone (CAZ) on 29 November last year. This CAZ is designed to ensure the city becomes compliant with legal limits of nitrogen dioxide levels as quickly as possible, combining Yunexs enforcement technology with its automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras. Drivers of non-compliant vehicles (excluding privately owned cars and vans) will now pay a charge to travel through the zone in south-west Portsmouth. Yunex has installed its Sicore II cameras in 42 locations across the zone and the information captured at each location is then interfaced with the governments national CAZ database for vehicle checking and payment.
