Latest developments from organisations across the profession Quercus lights the way Quercus Technologies SmartLPR Access automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras have a 99.7 per cent success rate, following an analysis of more than 3,000 UK number plates. This rate has been calculated by discarding only those recognitions that have resulted in an error regarding a single character because of the placement of darkcoloured xing screws on the UK plates. Quercus Technologies is continuing to improve the recognition rates of its products in all regions. Some of its other 2020 highlights were the improvements in number plate recognition in Belgium, Germany, Australia, Russia, Mexico and some states of the US, and the integration of new number plate models into its reading engine from places such as Iceland, Sri Lanka, Nebraska and Mexico City. Quercus Technologies has launched its latest innovations: Light per Space and its new matrix displays. Light per Space efficiently guides the driver to available parking spaces through the use of occupancy lights on each bay. These LED lights are connected to a central unit that reads number plates and detects the presence of the vehicles. This sends the information to the parking system and changes the colours of each light depending on whether the space is occupied or vacant. Quercuss new matrix displays allow customisable combinations, including a huge range of colours and personalised dynamic or static messages to help improve mobility and guidance in car parking facilities. We can now offer probably the markets best ANPR cameras in solutions for parking, access and security, and traffic monitoring systems, said Jonas Svensson, CEO, TagMaster. We are very pleased to launch the CT45 camera, which we know will give our customers great benefits, including increased revenue. This new scheme followed a six-month trial closure of Harwood Terrace, to try to reduce the 92 per cent of traffic in the area that came from people who live outside the borough. The cameras use the latest automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology to capture the number plates of motorists who enter these roads, with fines issued to those who do not hold a valid Hammersmith and Fulham residents parking permit. Mark Hoskin, group business development director at Marston Holdings, said: We are delighted to be working with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham on this scheme, which will significantly reduce the volume of traffic in the area.
