Park life Ship shape Kelvin Reynolds discusses how partnership, stewardship, leadership and comradeship are among the fleet of benefits on offer through BPA membership ecently, I was speaking to one of our stakeholders who described us as the good ship BPA. This got me thinking: what is a good ship and where did it come from? The earliest use of the phrase that I can find is in the novel Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe, where he likens a thriving business to a good ship. Presumably, hes suggesting a good ship is one that remains afloat and returns a profit. Well its certainly true that the BPA is thriving, with a larger, more engaged membership than at any time in our history. Thats good news in our 50th anniversary year. And what a year its been! Even with 2020 vision, we could not have imagined how it would turn out. R relation between, and so on. Many of these could be applied to the BPA: partnership, workmanship, companionship, apprenticeship, stewardship, sponsorship, leadership, and, of course, membership which, for some individuals, can lead to fellowship.
