Companies news RingGo branches out with school Hambledon Primary School, in Hampshire, partnered with RingGo, one of the UKs leading phone-parking solutions, to plant 170 trees to help the company offset its annual carbon emissions. The initiative is part of RingGos mission to help towns and cities become cleaner, healthier, more liveable places. The event, coordinated by Carbon Footprint, involved 105 pupils, who helped to plant the donated trees with a focus on creating a new green space for the students. The children worked alongside RingGos head of professional services, David Mitchell, and Winchester City Councils cabinet member for service quality and transformation, Martin Tod. Students will also have the opportunity to help manage the area, showcasing sustainability and bio-diversity. RingGo provides a pay-by-phone service for Winchesters park and ride sites. The council is encouraging an increase in tree planting as part of its ambitious targets to be a carbon neutral organisation by 2024 and a carbon neutral district by 2030. Each dolly will have an electronic control unit and sensors fitted to it that communicates wirelessly to another control unit mounted in the tow tug. Warnings are provided to the driver through a display screen and, if necessary, the tug will be immobilised if luggage is lost or locking is not correct. The UK-based firm is already in talks with several global airlines, ground-handling companies and airport operators about implementing this solution on thousands of vehicles that play such an important role in airport life. There are hundreds of incidents every year where crashes happen because of driver error, or the units not being stacked or locked in properly, said Miles Garner, sales and marketing director at Aurrigo. Our Transport Safety System can help eradicate a lot of these, as the tugs will not be able to move until everything is in place and, importantly, drivers will be made immediately aware if the situation changes. The launch comes just a few weeks after Aurrigo completed the second phase of testing for its autonomous baggage dolly at Heathrow Terminal 5. Working in partnership with International Airlines Group (IAG) and British Airways, the companys innovative solution offers the ability to reduce emissions and improve efficiencies in getting passenger bags to and from the terminal. Unlike the current operation, they will depart for the aircraft as soon as each one is full, speeding up the loading process and reducing passenger waiting times. New MEV for Wiltshire Videalert, one of the UKs leading suppliers of intelligent traffic enforcement and management solutions, has supplied Wiltshire Council with a new mobile enforcement vehicle (MEV), which is initially being used to police residential permit parking in Salisbury. The Peugeot 108 is equipped with a complete suite of Videalert software, which means it can be used for a wide range of safety-related parking applications including bus stops and the enforcement of school keep clears. The council is also deploying Videalert cameras to enforce two bus gates in Devizes. 12 britishparking.co.uk PN Mar20 pp10-13 Companies News.indd 12 20/02/2020 10:58
