My working week

My working week

Anna Haddick Anna Haddick from meliorate tells us more about her day job, taking the IAM certificate and her new role as NxtGen Lead in IAM Germany I have worked for meliorate as a senior consultant for almost four years. Meliorate is a strategic and organisational consultancy for infrastructure operators. My job is to develop new solutions for organisations and enable them to effectively manage and operate their technical assets. A lot of our clients are focused on improving their asset management systems. Usually, my working week starts at the clients site. As a consultant I travel a lot, which I enjoy. Discussing asset management is not only rational but also involves a change process. In our opinion, every member of the organisation is part of the asset management system, so it is important to include and convince all stakeholders in the project. Therefore, a big part of my job is to have face-to-face workshops or meetings. At the end of the week, I usually spend time working on internal projects in order to develop meliorate and my personal expertise. In our opinion, every member of the organisation is part of the asset management system, so it is important to include and convince all stakeholders in the project The best part of my job is being able to really make a difference. It was always important for me to contribute something valuable to society. That is what I found in asset management. Infrastructure is the backbone of society and plays such an important role, especially in the challenges nowadays, such as climate change. I enjoy helping our clients take optimal decisions by bridging the gap between management and technology and having a positive impact on a sustainable future. Asset management is not as well known in Germany as it is elsewhere. That is a challenge, but also an opportunity. The infrastructure operators are currently facing many challenges, such as the lack of resources and the high demand for sustainable infrastructure. With asset management, we can offer a solution to make good decisions and get the most benefit out of the assets. Thats an opportunity for the IAM and the industry to finally gain more attention for the management of technical assets. The best part of my job is being able to really make a difference. It was always important for me to contribute something valuable to society. That is what I found in asset management I was the first person to take and receive the IAM certificate in German. It was important to be able to take the certificate in my native language since linguistic nuances are important in some questions. In general, it is a great step forward for asset management in Germany because it opens up the accessibility to the entire German-speaking market. By providing German content and certificates, the IAM gains more visibility, and it helps promote asset management. I am very happy about my new role as NxtGen Lead in IAM Germany. I have been a member of the IAM since I started working with meliorate and have participated in several events including conferences and branch meetings. I think we need to ensure that the entire industry gets more attention because of its importance to society. NxtGen can contribute to that by introducing young professionals to the industry and by raising awareness about job opportunities in asset management. I am really excited to work on that in the future. I was the first person to take and receive the IAM certificate in German.
