IAM Conference The IAMs Global Conference 2023 will take place virtually between 14-15 June. Here, the IAMs Alex Clarke, gives a snapshot of what attendees can expect from the event Linking our world Offering the opportunity for our worldwide asset management community to engage with speakers and connect with each other, the IAM Global Conference is a highlight in our calendar. And running virtually, this year its been scheduled to cover multiple time zones to enable as many of our members and wider asset management community as possible to attend. This year, the conference will focus on why outcomes matter, and explore the importance of starting with the end in mind when it comes to building infrastructure. New infrastructure such as railway networks, green homes and major roads plays a key role in fuelling economic growth and improving lives. With such great investment comes a responsibility to deliver infrastructure that demonstrates real value for the people who use those railways, homes and roads for many years to come. We are delighted to announce Steve Wyton from the City of Calgary as our first keynote speaker. His presentation entitled Am I really better off? will examine that theme in more detail. He explains: Government and businesses alike are in an increasingly difficult (and sometimes publicly scrutinised) position of balancing cost and maximising community benefit. In an often complex and ambiguous world, are local governments doing enough to demonstrate that they are acting in our best interests and trying to improve the quality of life for all interested parties? What are government organisations doing, or could be doing more of, to demonstrate best value? How are they striking a balance between internal organisational objectives including cost effectiveness, service efficiency and risk mitigation and maximising community outcomes, such as public safety, sustainability, affordability, inclusivity and resiliency? Others speakers will be selected from submitted abstracts with a selection panel ensuring we present a diverse range of views, thought leadership and best practice, creating a unique learning and sharing experience for delegates. How to attend This event is free to all individual paying IAM members who will be automatically registered for the event, so there is no need to book.
